On Monday, October 21, 2024, the CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Dacosta Aboagye, on behalf of the government, commissioned a state-of-the-art office complex to serve the people of the West Gonja Municipality in the Savannah Region.
During the handover ceremony, Dr. Aboagye announced that the NHIA had fully settled all outstanding debts owed to healthcare providers. He emphasized that there should no longer be any delays or excuses regarding payments at health centers and hospitals across the country.

For the first time in NHIA’s history, he noted, healthcare providers have been paid without any outstanding arrears—a significant achievement for the Authority.
Dr. Aboagye highlighted that the commissioning of the West Gonja Municipal NHIA office marks the ninth such project he has inaugurated nationwide. He stressed the importance of bringing NHIS services closer to the people and underscored the need for a conducive working environment, such as the newly commissioned office, to enhance service delivery.
He urged staff and stakeholders to uphold a strong culture of maintenance to ensure the facility remains in good condition.
Reaffirming his commitment to keeping the NHIS viable and accessible to all Ghanaians, Dr. Aboagye acknowledged the contributions of key stakeholders, including traditional authorities, whose support was instrumental in the successful completion of the office complex.

He also took the opportunity to appeal for the provision of vehicles, particularly for NHIA offices in the Bole and Sawla Tuna Kalba districts, as transportation challenges have been a major constraint in these areas.
Dr. Aboagye further commended the NHIA for clearing all outstanding payments to health facilities nationwide. He pointed out that this development would alleviate the burden on politicians, as medications would now be readily available at no cost in all NHIS-covered centers.
