The Savannah Regional Health Directorate convened its 2025 Mid-Year Performance Review on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Damongo Community Centre. The event, held under the theme “Management of Financial Resources for Building an Effective Health Care System for Improved Patient Outcomes,” brought together key stakeholders from across the region, including health professionals, facility heads, and policy experts.
In his keynote address, Savannah Regional Health Director, Dr. John Ekow Otoo, stressed the importance of effective financial planning and prudent resource management as essential drivers of improved health outcomes. He called on all health facilities to prioritize patient-centered care and uphold accountability.

Speaking on behalf of the Finance Unit of the Budget Management Center (BMC), Dr. Abdul Razack Issahaku, Deputy Director of Finance, outlined strategies for ensuring financial sustainability and transparency in health service delivery.
Mr. Nathaniel Awuni, Deputy Director of Clinical Care, addressed the issue of “Clinical Negligence and Legal Risk in Health Service Delivery.” He urged clinicians to strictly follow protocols and uphold ethical standards to minimize malpractice, strengthen public trust, and reduce legal disputes within the system.
Medical representatives, including Dr. Nelson of St. Anne’s Hospital (West Gonja District) and Dr. Jonathan of Bole District Hospital, presented progress reports from their institutions. While noting key achievements, they also appealed for infrastructural improvements and increased resource allocation to better meet community health needs.

Mr. Godwin Domwie, Deputy Director of Administration, presented the Ghana Health Service Policy, emphasizing the importance of discipline among health professionals and warning of the serious consequences of misconduct, especially while on duty.
The review served as a forum for candid reflection, knowledge sharing, and collaborative planning toward building a more efficient, accountable, and patient-focused health care system in the Savannah Region.
