In an impressive demonstration of solidarity and camaraderie, the 155 Armoured Regiment in Damongo, in collaboration with various security agencies in the Savannah region, engaged in a Unity Walk on Monday, January 1, 2024. During an exclusive interview, Lt. Col. P. A. Hoffman, the Commanding Officer of the 155 Armoured Regiment, conveyed that the event marked the commencement of the year, underscoring the significance of fostering unity, development, and peace in the region. According to Lt. Col. P. A. Hoffman, the primary aim of the walk was to unite security services, government institutions, and Damongo residents, transcending differences for the collective well-being of the region and Ghana as a whole.

Emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace, particularly in the context of an upcoming election year, Lt. Col. Hoffman urged the security services to prioritize unity as a cornerstone for the nation’s stability. The commanding officer envisioned the Unity Walk evolving into an annual tradition, reaching out to a broader cross-section of the community.

Expressing gratitude, Lt. Col. Hoffman acknowledged the participation of security and government leaders, extending special thanks to the Member of Parliament for Damongo and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor, for sponsoring the event.

Preceding the Unity Walk, the 155 Armoured Regiment had coordinated various end-of-year activities, including fun games, relief item donations to flood victims in Buipe, and hosting a lunch for approximately 350 of the flood victims. The event attracted participants from a diverse array of agencies, including the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons, National Ambulance Service, Forestry Commission, Ghana Revenue Authority, Ghana Fire Service, Zoom Lion, and NADMO.

The Unity Walk will culminate with a get-together party at 5 pm today, celebrating the collaborative spirit and harmony that permeated throughout the event.
