The West Gonja branch of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has reached out to those impacted by a devastating flood in the Busunu area.
NADMO’s compassionate gesture signifies the second wave of assistance for these individuals. It was prompted by the swift response of the Member of Parliament for the Damongo constituency, who, upon receiving a report detailing the urgent needs of the flood victims, promptly made a generous cash donation and provided bags of rice to aid them.
On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, in Busunu, Mr. Adam Bavug, the Municipal NADMO Director, personally delivered the second phase of support to the beneficiaries. The West Gonja Municipal NADMO Director emphasized the significance of this assistance, given the severe flood damage recently suffered by the residents of Busunu due to heavy rains in the area. He also mentioned that NADMO had conducted a comprehensive needs assessment to ensure that the relief items catered to the specific requirements of the affected individuals.
The relief items presented included mattresses, blankets, plastic mats, bathing soap, plastic basins, rubber bowls, and cups. These supplies were made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Member of Parliament and the Municipal Chief Executive for West Gonja, who spearheaded the Disaster Management Committee in facilitating this relief support.
Mr. Bavug expressed his gratitude for their support and mentioned that he had initially planned to make the presentation alongside the Municipal Chief Executive, who chairs the Disaster Management Committee. However, due to prior commitments, the MCE was unable to attend.
