On the 29th of September, 2023, the Municipal Chief Executive of West Gonja, Hon. Musah Karim Kusubari, took great pride in delivering two significant improvements to the healthcare center in the Achubunyor community.
One of these projects entailed a comprehensive renovation of the existing nurse accommodations, while the other involved the construction of entirely new quarters for the nurses at the Achubunyor CHPS facility.
Addressing the local chief and residents, Hon. Musah Karim Kusubari underscored the Member of Parliament’s unwavering dedication to advancing healthcare in the Achubunyor region, noting how this commitment extended to various facets of the constituency. He explained that the initial plan was solely to renovate the old nurse quarters but, thanks to the efforts of Samuel Abu Jinapor, additional resources were secured to construct entirely new accommodations for the nurses.
The provision of these accommodation facilities aimed to ensure that nurses assigned to the Achubunyor healthcare center would reside within the community, thus enabling them to provide essential healthcare services to the local residents. The Municipal Chief Executive emphasized the MP’s commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery within the constituency, resulting in the construction of these four new self-contained apartments. He encouraged the Achubunyor community members to recognize and support the MP’s efforts, regardless of their political affiliations, for the betterment of the area’s development.
Speaking on behalf of the Municipal Director for Health Services, Hajia Ubaida Nurudeen, a public health nurse at the West Gonja Municipal Health Directorate, expressed gratitude to both the MCE and MP for their continuous support to the health directorate. She assured everyone that the new facility would be utilized for its intended purpose, further strengthening healthcare services in Achubunyor and the surrounding regions.
Hon. Kipo Yakubu, the Assemblyman for the Achubunyor electoral area, shared his joy at the completion of the project and extended his thanks to the MCE and MP for their invaluable contributions to the community. He urged community members to prioritize development over partisan politics.
Achubunyor Wura Alhassan, the Chief of the Community, also conveyed his appreciation for these projects and called upon the MP and MCE to consider constructing a fence around the clinic for added security.
The newly constructed nurse quarters comprise four single bedrooms, each equipped with its own toilet and bathroom facilities, ensuring comfortable accommodations for the healthcare professionals at the Achubunyor CHIPS facility.
