The Savannah region has for the first time joined the rest of the country to celebrate the independence Anniversary celebration after its creation a year ago. The Damongo Town Park saw a massive crowd as many people were there to witness the ceremony for the first time .
The Savannah regional Minister Hon. Salifu Adam Braimah after delivering the anniversary speech stated that, the Chiefs and People of Savannah region are not only excited for celebrating the independence of Ghana this year but are also happy for celebrating the independence they have gained to manage their own affairs as a region.
He commended the President for granting the heart desire of the chiefs and people of the region.
Prior to the Regional Minister’s address , the Deputy Chief of Staff who is also the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Damongo Constituency Lawyer Abu Jinapor made a solemn commitment to ensuring continuous development and progress for the good people of Damongo.
He underscore the importance of education and promised to collaborate with the Municipal Chief Executive of West Gonja and the Regional Minister to establish an endowment fund that will take care of needy but brilliant students.
He also promised to put in place a motivational package for teachers.
About 2, 000 students and pupils from selected Nursery, Primary, Junior and Senior High Schools, Professional Associations, members from the various political parties and Youth groups took part in the March pass.
In all, four contingents from the Security Services comprising of the Ghana National Fire, Ghana Police and Ghana Immigration Services as well as Cadet Corps from two schools also participated in the parade.
