Following the overflow of Sor No.1 bridge in the West Gonja municipality, Mr. Adam Bavug, the Municipal Director of NADMO (National Disaster Organization), has taken steps to reassure those affected by the bridge’s submersion, which has resulted in the isolation of the Sor Area from access to and from it.
Upon being informed of the incident on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, Mr. Bavug promptly arranged for a canoe from Daboya in the North Gonja district to aid stranded commuters who were unable to traverse to Sor or the bustling town of Damongo. He expressed genuine concern regarding the additional expenses incurred by commuters utilizing the canoe services and cautioned farmers against venturing into their fields to avert potential risks to life.
Mr. Bavug made a commitment that once his office receives relief supplies from the government, affected individuals would be compensated for their losses. Furthermore, he issued an appeal to the government and other stakeholders to lend their support to the people of the Sor Electoral Area and the farmers relying on this route.
