The hospital Administrator of the St. Anne’s Catholic hospital in Damongo, Mr Frank Ameyaw Korsah in a media briefing on Wednesday, 8th February, 2023 called on benevolent organizations to help the hospital in carry out surgical services.

Mr Frank said the hospital is currently working on some surgeries and so far operated over 51 person’s successfully with conditions such as Hemorrhoids, Hernia, Thyroids, Hydrocele, Cholelithiasis, Keloids, Lumps and Bumps.

“We call on philanthropist to support the hospital with logistics such as gauze, gloves, anesthetic drugs, anesthesia machine, oxygen concentrators amongst others to support critical service delivery such as the ongoing surgical outreach”.

“We don’t have a specific cost for the surgeries; they are covered by the NHIS as much as possible if the patient is having a valid insurance card”.

He also added that it is worthy of note that patrons of the ongoing surgery were not only within the Savannah region. People came from Accra to undergo the surgery.

“We deliver services in line with Christ’s healing ministry, so we want everybody to have access to quality and affordable healthcare within Damongo and the entire country.

The administrator also indicated that the hospital is working to sustain quality and affordable service and make specialist outreach services a routine and regular exercise for people of the Savannah region and beyond.

“Plans are in place to have an all year round specialist services in the Diocese/Region particularly in the hospital.

The Diocesan Health Director, Mr. Aiden Ngmenbon on his part noted that their responsibility as a health institution is to bring quality healthcare to the people within the area to minimize referrals to other bigger hospitals in other parts of the country.

He also explained that the facility is not only offering quality service to the people but also competitive affordable health services which is their number one objective.

Mr Ngmenbon called on stakeholders in the Savannah region to help them extend electricity to a 95% completed expanded OPD block of Martyrs of Uganda Health Center in the Bole district.

“At the moment our key challenge in operationalizing that facility is having to connect it to the national grid; it is located a bit distant from electricity and we are financially distressed to be able to send electricity to the place to commence service delivery” Mr Ngmenbon added.

“Let me use this opportunity to call on the good people of Savannah and all well-meaning persons that can assist Martyrs of Uganda Health Center in bole to be able to get electricity to this new site to come to our aid” he appealed.
